Air Baltic is an airline primary owned by the Latvian State and flies to major routes across Europe with an impressive coverage of some of the world's major airports. The airline has a straightforward baggage policy that outlines the airline's baggage requirements for passengers who seek to travel with the airline.

Checked Baggage Allowance

What the checked baggage allowance on this airline depends on is the class one is traveling on and the route selected. For instance, passengers traveling on the Business class will be allowed to carry up to two baggage pieces weighing a maximum weight of 40 kg in total while those in the Premium class will be allowed to bring along a bag weighing a total of 20kg. Those who choose to travel in the Basic class will pay baggage fees depending on the modes they use to book their flightS. If a passenger books their ticket via the official Air Baltic website, they pay baggage fees starting from 9.99 EUR. If they already have their ticket, passengers will pay 34.99 EUR in case they used 'Manage my booking' or if they choose to check in online. Tickets booked at independent travel agencies, or Air Baltic ticket offices will attract a fee of 35 EUR which is slightly lower than the 40 EUR they will be required to pay at the airport check-in desk. In situations where the cabin baggage exceeds the maximum weight and dimension restrictions, the passenger will be needed to part with a fee of 60 EUR. It is important to note that the dimensions allowed for all checked baggage are 100 x 50 x 80 cm.

Noteworthy is the fact that passenger will only be allowed five pieces of baggage at any given time and the maximum weight allowed for each single piece of baggage is 32 kg past which an excess baggage fee will be applicable. Should a passenger's baggage exceed these dimensions, a bulky baggage fee of 60 EUR will be applied while if it is past the 20kg weight allowed for a single baggage it will be categorized as excess with a fee of 50 EUR charged on it.

Travelers On Special Tickets

The airline extends special baggage allowance terms to passengers who regularly fly with it through a program called PINS. This program allows passengers who fall into this category and are flying under the PINS VIP membership baggage allowance as follows; Business Class ticket holders will be authorized 4 pieces of checked baggage weighing up to 80 kg, the premium Class ticket holders will be allowed only 3 pieces weighing up to 60kg while the Basic ticket holders have no baggage allowance extended to them. On the other hand, PINS Executive ticket holders will be allowed three pieces of checked baggage in the Business class weighing 60kg while their Premium Class counterparts will be allowed two pieces of checked baggage of up to 40 kg. Basic Class ticket holders do not enjoy any baggage allowance in this category.

Checked Baggage Allowance For Infants

Infants traveling on this airline will be allowed checked baggage of 10kg. In addition to that, they will be allowed to carry along one fully collapsible stroller a carry cot or a car seat for infants. At any given time one adult will be allowed to pool baggage with only one infant.

Hand Luggage

The Basic and Premium ticket holders will be allowed to carry one cabin bag and an additional personal item. On the contrary, their counterparts in the Business Class and holders of the PINS VIP card will be allowed two cabin bags and one personal item. The dimensions acceptable for the cabin bags are 55 x 40 x 20 cm while that for hand luggage is 30 x 40 x 20 cm, In Total the weight of the cabin bag together with the personal item cannot exceed 8 kg.

During the flight, Passengers are advised to store their luggage in the seats in front of them or the lockers directly above their seats. In this category of luggage, passengers who have disabilities are allowed to carry with them items that they will need to aid their movement as long as these items do not violate the airlines' safety rules. Any hand luggage that exceeds the limits will be charged a fee of 40 EUR while bulky hand luggage will be transported in the hold of the aircraft at a fee of EUR 60.

Restricted Items

All liquids carried by the passengers should be limited to 100ml containers, and such containers should be stored in a plastic resealable bag with a carrying capacity of one-liter which approximately fits in the dimensions of 20cm x 20cm. Each and every passenger shall not carry more than one such containers.
A particular category of items is not allowed in the baggage. These are fragile items like glasses, medication needed for use on board the flight, things that are considered of high value like money or precious stones, vital business documents, electronic devices and musical instruments. In addition to these, to observe safety, any sharp objects and items that are explosive or flammable in nature and are classified as dangerous goods are entirely banned.
