Summary

Summary
Last update: 08 Dec 2016

Small Planet Airlines apply a standardized baggage policy that is not limited to the ticket one is flying on.

Checked Baggage

The airline's checked baggage allowance allows all its passengers to bring along two pieces of checked baggage of a maximum weight of 20kg in total. The dimensions of the baggage should not exceed 158 cm when the length, width, and the height are added. However, the baggage cannot be more than 32kg. Otherwise, it will be classified as excess baggage.

Passengers who are traveling with infants who fall below the age of 2 years and do not have any seat registered in their name will also be allowed to bring along 10kg of checked baggage for free together with a buggy.

Several exceptions apply to passengers who are traveling on the following routes;

Route; To/From Bangkok, Tenerife, Agadir, Dubai, Las Palmas, Funchal, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura.

This category of passengers is extended a checked baggage allowance of only 15kg.

Route; To/From Bergamo, Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Geneva

This class of travelers is allowed checked baggage of up to 23kg which is inclusive of ski and snowboard shoes.

Cabin Baggage

The amount of cabin baggage the passengers are allowed to carry should be limited to a weight of 5kg with dimensions of 56cm x 45 cm x 25 cm. Important to note, is that passengers are recommended to store their hand luggage in the seat in front of them or the locker above their seats.

Excess Baggage Fees

The passengers should observe that Small Planet Airlines reserves the right to decline any baggage that is deemed to be more than the approved limits. Excess baggage fees may be applied on baggage that is accepted for carriage, and this defers from region to region.

Passengers on flights from Lithuania will be charged excess baggage fees at the rate of 7 EUR per Kg. These prices differ slightly from the flights from Germany in which passengers are required to pay 12 EUR per kg of excess baggage. On the other hand, flights from Poland will be charged excess baggage fees at the rate of 40 PLN per kg of excess baggage while those on flights from the United Kingdom will pay excess baggage fees at the rate of 12 GBP per kg of excess baggage.

Baggage Claim

It is expected that the passenger’s luggage will arrive safely at their destination where they can retrieve it. For this reason, the passengers are requested to report any delay or damage to their baggage at the Lost and Found office at the airport.

Ideally, the damage to baggage should be declared in writing within seven days of the passenger's arrival where they will be provided with a Damaged Property Report (DPR). In the case of delays to their property, they should register their complaint in writing to the airline within a minimum of 21 days after receiving their baggage for the issuance of a Property Irregularity Report (PIR).

After this, the Passenger will then be able to make a successful claim to the airline regarding the damaged or delayed baggage by attaching the following documents; Copy of boarding pass, a copy of their ticket, a copy of their baggage identification tag and a copy of the DPR or the PIR.

Prohibited and Restricted Items

If a passenger wishes to carry with them small amounts of liquid or aerosols or gels as hand luggage, they should ensure that such fluids are in containers that do not exceed 100ml. And these containers should be stored in a clear plastic bag that does not exceed 1 liter. However, this restriction does not apply to liquid baby food carried for infants and medication needed for use by passengers during the flight.

In conclusion, there is also a certain category of items that the airline prohibits the passenger from packing in their luggage, and these are; any item that is classified as a weapon, ammunition, stunning devices, objects that are sharp, workmen’s tools, blunt tools, flammable substances, blasting caps, detonators, and devices that are capable of explosions. The Airline will permit carriage of ammunition but after an advance notice of 24 hours prior to boarding of the airplane.
