Personal Items are defined as any items, which are carried at passenger cabin for free of charge. Each passenger is responsible for his/her own personal item. Duty-free products shall be excluded from the implementation of cabin baggage carriage regulations. Suit covers (114x60x11 cm) shall be considered as cabin baggage.

Personal item are male/female purses, umbrella (except for those with sharp tip), tablet, small video camera or camera, bag-type strollers, laptop, umbrella.

If the strollers cannot be placed under the seats or inside the overhead bins and/or they cannot be tied to the seats safely, they will be taken to the cargo deck without claiming any charge.

Prohibited

For Your and other passengers safety there are some restricted liquids list:

  • Shaving foam, deodorants, all materials of a consistency of paste including toothpaste,
  • All liquids including water, syrup and drinks,
  • All non-solid foodstuffs and jellies including jam, honey, yoghurt, molasses and tomato paste,
  • Creams, lotions, oils (including cosmetic), cologne, perfume, all kinds of makeup including mascara (excluding solid lipsticks),
  • Other substances such as contact lens fluids, shampoos, sprays and aerosols, and other substances similar to those listed.

For flights to/from Brazil and Argentina (the first flight of the journey on the ticket) passengers from all cabin classes may check two pieces of luggage for their free baggage allowance. Flights departing from Brazil/Argentina have allowances of 32 kg per bag for the entirety of the journey. Flights with final destinations of Brazil/Argentina have a baggage allowances of 23 kg per bag for passengers traveling economy, and 32 kg per bag for passengers traveling business.

** For travelling originating from SAO  to SIN, KUL, CGK, BKK, MLE free baggage allowance is applied as 2 pcs and each piece 32 kg.  As of 26 September 2013, instead of 2 pcs X 32 kg, passengers can also bring 1 pcs X 32 kg and 1 surfboard bag which includes 3 surfboard with max 3 metres and not heavier than 32 kg for total weight. If passengers bring more than 3 surfboard, sports equipments and bicycle charges will apply for each extra piece.

Turkish Airlines Baggage Regulations

Cabin Baggage:
People flying in economy will we allowed one carryon bag that is no larger than 21.5 inches in height, sixteen inches in length, and nine inches in width. This carry-on baggage must weigh no more than 17.6 pounds. People flying in business will be allowed two bags that are each no bigger than 21.5 inches in height, with a length of no more than sixteen inches, and a width of nine inches. These two bags must weigh no more than eight pounds each. You can bring a suit cover in place of one of these bags. Personal items such as purses, laptop cases, and camera bags will not be considered as part of the carry-on baggage for either economy or business flights. All personal items that you bring with you on the flight need to be able to fit either under the seat, or in the overhead bins and should not cause a safety hazard. Requirements for flights from and to certain regions can differ so please check ahead of time.

Checked Baggage:
People flying in economy may check one bag weighing no more that forty-four pounds. People flying in business can have a bag checked that weights no more than sixty-six pounds. If you are flying to or from the Americas in either economy or business class, then you can have two checked bags. These bags can weigh no more than 50.7 pounds for economy class, or 70.5 pounds for business class. If you are flying with a child two years of age or younger, then you can also have an infant bag, weighing no more than twenty-two pounds, and a collapsible stroller checked. The requirements for weights and dimensions of checked baggage can vary depending on your destination.

Prohibited Items:
For your safety and the safety of our other passengers, there are certain items that you will not be able to bring with you on your flights. All makeup products, including creams, lotions, perfumes, and mascara, are prohibited other than solid lipsticks. All liquids, including drinks, water, and syrups are also prohibited on flights. Also prohibited are all non-solid foods such as jellies and jams, honey, yogurt, and molasses. Many personal hygiene items are also not allowed on flights, including shaving cream, deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, body spray and other aerosols, and contact lens cleaner.

These are just general guidelines for traveling on Turkish Airlines. Baggage allowances can differ greatly based on where you are leaving from and where you are traveling to. For more information about your particular flight, contact your local airport or travel agency as they will be able to inform you of the particular guidelines of the flight that you will be on. Some flights allow carryon and checked baggage to weigh a little more for both economy and business class, while other flights require these bags to weigh even less. Flights from certain areas allow for more carryon bags or more checked bags or sometimes both. Flights from some areas allow for larger items that you may be traveling with such as snow boards and surfboards.
