El Al Airlines is Israel's leading airline with a global presence that spans very many popular travel destinations. Its baggage policy is designed to take care of the needs of the passengers flying to these different travel destinations and the classes they are flying in. Their checked baggage limits slightly differ for the different classes. The First Class travelers are allowed to check-in 3 pieces of baggage of 32kg or 70 lbs for each piece, while the Business class travelers are allowed 2 pieces of checked baggage of 32kg or 70 lbs per piece. This differs from the Economy class and Economy Plus passengers who are allowed to carry only 1 piece of checked baggage with a weight of 23kg or 50 lbs per piece. In all the destinations, the dimensions accepted for the checked baggage are 158 cm or 62 inches when the length, width, and height are summed up.

Infants traveling on this airline, with a seat purchased for them are allowed checked baggage of 10kg or 20lbs in addition to a safety seat, a carry cot, and a baby carriage.

Carry-on luggage allowance is also as per the class the passenger is traveling on. First class passengers are allowed 2 pieces of carry-on luggage that should weigh 24 kg or 52 lbs in total. The Business Class passengers are also allowed 2 pieces of carry-on luggage but the total weight should be 20kg or 48 lbs. In both cases, the maximum weight of each baggage should not exceed 16 kgs. In contrast, carry-on luggage in the Economy Class and Economy Plus is limited to one piece with a total weight of 8kg.The ideal dimensions on the carry-on luggage are 56cm x 45 cm x 25 cm or 22''x 18'' x 10''. First class passengers can bring with them a laptop case which is counted as one of the 2 pieces allowed on board.

In most cases, El Al will do its best to deliver the luggage in time but in cases of missing items, delayed, damaged or lost luggage the customer is requested to take the following actions as per the incident affecting them. Any missing or damaged items should be reported to the airline within a period of seven days after receiving the baggage. Delayed baggage should be reported within 21 days of receiving the baggage. In the case of lost baggage, the client should contact the airline after 21 days with an attachment of supporting documents like a lost baggage report from the airline, boarding passes, flight tickets, baggage tags and any receipts that can be used to support the claim. The passengers have the option of contacting the airline online after filling the complaint form provided.

Passengers wishing to carry any liquids should ensure that they are in 100 ml containers and the containers should be in a 1-liter plastic bag that can be resealed after use. Each passenger is allowed only one such bag and any medications or food meant for babies are excluded from the items that can be contained in the bag. The airline also prohibits carrying any prohibited substances even when they are bought from the duty-free shops.

There are certain restrictions applied to batteries. For instance, dry alkaline, dry rechargeable, non-spillable wet batteries are allowed in both the hand luggage and checked baggage either in the equipment or as spares. On the other hand, lithium ion and lithium metal batteries are only allowed in the hand luggage and checked luggage when in their respective equipment but are prohibited as spares in the checked baggage.

Finally, Items that are prohibited are any compressed gasses, flammable substances, materials that are radioactive in nature, substances with oxidizing properties, poisonous substances and sharp objects that can be used as weapons. El Al Airlines does not allow its passengers to use electronic gadgets in the flight and e-cigarettes should be contained in the hand luggage. All passengers that are traveling while sick are requested to carry their medication with them as hand luggage for easy retrieval when needed.
