Different airlines have different rules by which you need to adhere to before you can travel with them. Most of the main rules that are applied concern the safety and proper identification of the passengers. For instance, you can never be allowed to travel by airline if you do not have identification documents like your ID and passport with you. So that all the passengers are safe you will also not be allowed to pack items that are classified as dangerous goods. They include sharp objects, explosive chemicals, and weapons. You should also expect to be taken through rigorous checks before boarding the plane. However, the airlines also place their own restrictions on the baggage sizes (weight and dimensions) that you can carry. In this article, we give you flight information of the different rules applied by different airlines.

Adria Airlines Flight Information

Checked Baggage

In Adria airline, both adults and children are allowed to bring along a single piece of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23kg and dimensions of 158cm only. Any Baggage that exceeds this weight will accrue extra charges. However, if you purchase the basic ticket you will have to pay to bring along checked baggage. On the other hand, infants are allowed to bring along checked baggage of up to 23kg just like the adults and the children.

The airline classifies children as those who have attained the age of 2 years and above while the infants are those that are still below the age of two years. For the children who have attained the age of 2 years and above, the guardians will be required to carry for them proof of their identification and purchase for them their own seat.

Hand Luggage

When it comes to the hand luggage every passenger is allowed only a single piece of hand luggage weighing 8kg with dimensions totaling 118cm in the Basic, Classic and Flexible Classes. But in the Business Class, the passengers are allowed to bring two pieces of hand luggage with the same dimensions. In addition to the personal items, the passengers are allowed to bring with them personal items that they will need to have on board the flight from time to time. These items can be a handbag, portable computer, overcoat or a camera.

Baggage Claim

In case after arriving, you realize your baggage is missing you will be required to make an immediate report with the Lost and found office within the airport. If unfortunately, you are unable to do this you will be required to make a report in writing within 21 days of the occurrence of the incident. The airline promises to compensate their clients for any lost baggage as per the value of its content if the baggage is not found within 3 days. In the case of damage to baggage, you will be compensated to the extent of the damage or the cost of replacing the baggage.

Volaris Airlines Flight Information

Checked Baggage

For Volaris Airlines checked baggage allowance is classified to factor in both the domestic and international flights. Passengers on domestic flights are only allowed a single piece of checked baggage that weighs 55lbs with dimensions of 62 inches. On the other hand, if you are booked on an international flight within this airline you will have to pay for all the checked baggage that you bring along.

Hand luggage/Cabin Baggage

When it comes to hand luggage, all passengers on both the international and domestic flights are extended an allowance of two hand luggage with maximum dimensions of 9.8inches x 15.7 inches x 15.7 inches for length width and height respectively. In case a passenger is flying with an infant then they will be allowed to carry for them a diaper bag with the same dimensions outlined for the hand luggage on condition that it fits into the cabin section. In addition to this, infants are allowed to have their collapsible baby strollers with them on board.

The passengers are expected to report damaged baggage immediately otherwise they will not qualify for any form of compensation. Lost baggage will be compensated according to the Mexican Aviation Authority rules with the hand luggage attracting a compensation of 40 minimum salaries while the checked baggage will attract compensation to the value of 75 minimum salaries as determined by the minimum salaries applicable in Mexico. For delayed baggage, the passengers will receive compensation of up to $750 for a maximum of 3 days within which the baggage is delayed.

Interjet Airlines Flight Information

Checked Baggage

For Interject Airlines, the passengers have the option of flying in the Light, Optima and Priority classes. And so the baggage allowances vary according to these classes and whether one is flying to/from Mexico or Latin America. Passengers flying to/from Mexico are expected to part with $25 for all their checked baggage in the Light class, while those flying in the Optima class are allowed one piece of checked baggage that weighs a maximum of 25 kg. Those on the Priority class are allowed only two pieces of checked baggage.

All that is a sharp contrast from the allowance that is extended to the passengers that are flying to/from Latin America who are allowed a single piece of checked baggage of up to 25kg on the Light Class, two pieces of 50kg in the Optima class and three pieces of 75kg in the Priority class.

Hand luggage Allowance

On the other hand, passengers who are flying to those two destinations will be allowed only 2 pieces of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 10kg.

Baggage Claim

In the event that a passenger loses their baggage, they are required to immediately notify the airline personnel so that a lost baggage claim report is prepared promptly. When a passenger’s baggage is delayed they will be compensated $40 within the first 24 hours of the delay. If the baggage is not found after 8 days then it is considered lost and the customer service personnel will start processing documentation for compensating the passenger.

Fiji Airways Flight Information

Checked Baggage

For Fiji Airways you can choose to either fly Business Class or Economy Class. If you choose to fly Economy class then you are allowed to carry checked baggage of up to 23 kg while on the Business class you will enjoy a maximum weight allowance of 40 kg on your checked baggage. If you are traveling with an infant then you will be able to pack an extra 10kg on your checked baggage including a collapsible stroller. This applies to all the classes.

Hand Luggage

When it comes to your hand luggage, In the Economy class, you will enjoy an allowance of one hand luggage weighing up to 7kg with dimensions of (55cm x 40cm x 23cm). On the other hand, in the Business Class, you will be able to pack two pieces of hand luggage with the same weight and dimensions. If you are traveling with an infant then you can pack an extra 3kg on top of your specified hand luggage allowance. In addition to all that, you will also be allowed to bring along personal items like cameras, laptops, and overcoats that you will need to use during your trip.

Baggage Claim

Any baggage that is not delivered within 24 -48 hours will be considered delayed and the customer is advised to file a report with the airline's authorities immediately. If the baggage is not found within 21 days then it will be considered lost and the customer is advised to file an online baggage claim form with the details of the lost baggage. For damaged baggage, the customer is advised to make an immediate report otherwise the airline will not accept any liability for the damaged baggage.

United Airlines Flight Information

Checked Baggage

For United Airlines the classes by which one can travel are varied and this means the privileges extended to the passengers when it comes to their baggage allowance is also varied. For instance, passengers in the United Economy and Premier Silver classes will be allowed to check in baggage with dimensions of 62 inches and a maximum weight of 23kg. For passengers in the other classes, they will be allowed to bring with them checked baggage with the same dimensions but with a weight of up to 32kg.

Carry-on Baggage

As a passenger, you will also be allowed to bring with you a carry-on bag with dimensions of 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches on board. In addition to that, you will be allowed to carry one personal item with dimensions of 9inches x 10 inches x17 inches. However, those who are traveling in a Basic Economy Ticket will only be allowed a single personal item with the requirement that they pay for any carry-on bag. You will also be allowed to bring with you one additional item like a jacket, umbrella, reading Material or Breast pump that you consider important to have with you while in flight.

Baggage Claim

If on arrival you notice that there is any damage to your baggage you will need to report this immediately to the airline's authorities for assistance and processing of compensation claims. Ensure while you are doing this that the tags on your baggage are intact. If you notice the damage after you have left the airport then you will need to report any damage immediately. But if your flight is an international flight then you have up to seven days to file the necessary reports. While the airline is keen to see to it that you do not lose your luggage, if after 3 days the delayed luggage is not found then it will be considered lost. In this scenario, the airline will be forced to compensate you with $1,500 but if it is established that the contents of your lost luggage were valuable than this amount then you will be compensated up to a maximum of $3,000.
