Middle East Airlines (MEA) has a baggage policy that is influenced by the class one is traveling on, the route and whether they are frequent flyers.

Checked Baggage 

Route: To/From Beirut to Dusseldorf, Copenhagen or Frankfurt. 

In the weight system, Passengers in these routes are extended a checked baggage allowance of 40kg in the Economy Class and 60 kg in the Business Class. 

Routes: To/From Beirut to Amman, Abu Dhabi, Al Najaf, Baghdad, Cairo, Dammam, Doha, Dubai, Erbil, Jeddah, Kuwait, Larnaca, Riyadh or Yerevan. 

For this route, the passengers are allowed checked baggage of 30kg in the Economy Class and 60 kg in the Business Class. 

Routes: To/ From Beirut to Abidjan, Accra, Kano or Lagos

In these routes, the passengers are allowed checked baggage of 35kg in the Economy Class and 70kg in the Business Class.

Additionally, the passenger will be allowed to bring an extra checked baggage of 10kg and 20kg in the Sky Team Elite and Sky Team Elite Plus categories respectively. On the other hand in the piece system, the passengers flying Economy from Athens, Brussels, Geneva, London, Milan, Nice, Paris or Rome have a checked baggage allowance of one piece of up to 23 kg in weight. Their counterparts in the Business Class have a checked baggage allowance of the same weight but for three pieces. 

The airline also extends special baggage allowance consideration to its passengers who frequently fly through the weight system category. In the Economy Class, the Golden Cedar and Silver Cedar frequent flyers enjoy 20kg and 10 kg of checked baggage respectively. In comparison, those flying in the Business Class enjoy 30 kg and 20 kg of checked baggage allowance in the Golden Cedar and Silver Cedar tickets respectively.

In the piece system, the passengers will be allowed a single piece of checked baggage of 23 kg weight in all the Sky Team tickets and frequent flyer tickets for both the Economy Class and Business Class. This allowance is limited to the following routes; to or From Beirut to Athens, Brussels, Geneva, London, Milan, Nice, Paris or Rome.

In the weight system, an infant who is not occupying a seat will be allowed a single piece of checked baggage of 10kg while in the piece system the infant will be allowed a single piece of checked baggage of 15kg in weight.

For passengers who are keen on traveling with their sports equipment, they are authorized to bring up to 23kg in the piece system and only 20kg in the weight system. Any excess baggage will be charged excess baggage fees as will be determined by the airline. 

Cabin Baggage

Middle East Airline's authorized cabin baggage is limited to 10kg in weight and dimensions of 56cm x 40 cm x 25 cm. In addition to this, the passenger is allowed to bring with them an umbrella, an overcoat, handbag, crutches, walking sticks, wheelchair, reading material, binoculars, baby food, and baby carrying cot. 

Baggage Claims

Any misplaced baggage should be reported at the Lost and Found Counter at the airport where the airline's officials will give the passenger a reference number and assist them further by tracking the whereabouts of the baggage. For any delayed baggage the passenger is recommended to report the matter immediately to the MEA officials for assistance. Damaged baggage should be reported within seven days of receiving the baggage and claims on such baggage will only be followed through if accompanied by a reference quote. 

Restricted Items

Passengers wishing to carry liquids as hand luggage should ensure that they are limited to containers of 100 ml which should be stored in clear plastic bags with dimensions of 20 cm by 20 cm. Such liquids must be submitted for checking before boarding of the flight.

The Airline also prohibits its passengers from carrying a particular category of items that have the potential of compromising the safety of the other passengers. These items are; tools or sharp objects that can be used as weapons, flammable substances, firearms or ammunition, lithium battery-powered vehicles like hover boards, gas cylinders, electroshock weapons, cigarette lighters, dry ice and other oxidizing materials.
