In this article, we will make information available to you to plan your trip with British Airlines. We will go into detail on the luggage allowance on the airplane, restricted items, and fees for your baggage exceeding the allowed weight for the aircraft. With this information you will be able to make sure that you don’t get any bad news when you get to the airport. This will also hopefully make your life a lot easier when it comes to planning your travel.
Some general rules are generalized to every company and airport. These rules are mostly about the restricted items. In your carry-on baggage, you are not allowed to carry firearms, and a sharp blade (knife, scissors, etc.). You are also not allowed to transport any liquid that exceeds 100ml. While you should always be sure to check everything before you leave, as some airport might have some more strict regulations. But most of the time these rules will apply.
Now onto the restriction for you checked in baggage. The maximum capacity you are allowed to check in is 30kg. Any baggage exceeding this weight will be charged 90$ per extra bags (if you buy it online before) any excess baggage past the second will be charged 180$. Now if you do not check your luggage beforehand online, and you wait until the airport, every luggage will be charged 100$ for the first extra luggage and 200$ for any extra baggage.
If you were allowed to bring two luggage with the plane ticket you bought before, the fees would follow the same rules as if they were any other extra baggage so 180$ by buying it online before and 200$ at the airport. Every fee is per one-way flight only. You will have to pay extra for every flight you will get on. British Airlines will also apply charges for any connection 100$ for flight connection through Europe in every single circumstance. British Airways baggage fees for any connecting flight connecting outside of Europe you will pay the fees only once.
You might not be able to purchase your baggage check in online for a certain route. There is no restriction when it comes to dimension for your checked baggage. But for your carry on you should be following these rules. No carry on should weigh more than 7 kilograms, and the size should not exceed 16x12x6in / 40x30x15cm.
We now have gone over the basic information that you should need to get around with British Airlines. You should still always make sure that you double check any information with the airline company as they are subject to change without prior notice. Also, make sure to check any promotion that might have been available with the package you bought, and make sure to double check any carry-on baggage for restricted items because you will be asked to leave them at the security if you are in possession of any items that are not allowed on the plane.
