Small items, like notebooks or handbags, has to fit into your hand baggage. Hand baggage must lift after seat in front of you or into the overhead storage box. You are allowed to take a Trunki case as hand luggage, as long as it weighs less than 5kg.

In some cases hand baggage allowance is 20 kg. Please, check it on Your order list.

If You are traveling with infant, under two years old, You can take one peace of hand baggage - 10kg.

The pushchair You can take for free of charge.

Premium Club passengers can take 7kg hand luggage.

Thomson Airways, like every other airline has specific baggage instruction that is easy to understand and follow. Here are the main provisions of the baggage rules. 

Baggage Allowance

Each client is allowed to carry baggage whose weight totals to 15kg and a carry-on baggage that weighs no more than 5Kg. The acceptable dimensions of the baggage are up to a maximum of 55cm x40cm x 20cm (22in x 16in x 9in). No single item of baggage is allowed to have a weight that exceeds 23kgs even when excess baggage charges have been paid.

For clients who have paid to have additional baggage, they are required to check in the additional bags. All other personal and electronic gadgets such as laptops, video cameras, mobile phones and other valuable items should be carried within the hand baggage. Still, they should not exceed the outlined weight of the hand baggage. 

There will be charges for excess baggage as shown below:

1. Short Haul Flights (Destinations such as the Balearics, Spain, Portugal and Italy) - £13 (€17) per kg.

2. Mid Haul Flights (Destinations such a Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Malta, Cypress, the Caribbean, India, and Mexico) - £15 (€19) per kg. 

3. Long Haul Flights (Destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico, Sri Lanka, India and Mauritius) - £18 (€27) per kg. 

Infant Baggage

Thompson Airways now has luggage allowance of up to 10kg for infants below 2 years of age. However, baby wheelchairs and pushchairs are not regarded as being part of this allowance and one is not charged for carrying them. 

Provisions for larger Items

Musical Instruments – There are chances that your musical is larger than the 23kg limit stated earlier. In such cases, such items should checked in for extra charge and marked fragile. 

Diving equipment – Anyone carrying diving equipment should show a diving certificate during check in. Those who show the certificate will get 5kg extra allowance for free. When the weight exceeds this extra allowance, then they will be required to check in for extra charge. 

Sports Equipment – Passengers who intent to travel with sports equipment are required to call the airline 2 months prior to the travel date. This is for the purposes of pre-arranging the flight. Sport equipment should also be insured against damage and packed in secure compartments to avoid possibility of damage. 

Baggage Restrictions

Liquids – Thomson Airways does not allow passengers to carry small amounts of liquids in carryon bags. Instead, they are required to pack them in small containers of 100ml, clear and resalable plastic bags. The containers should not exceed 20cm x 20cm (8 inches x 8 inches). Please pack any container that is larger than these in your checked in luggage. 

When packing the liquid container, it should be in such a way that they are tightly closed and they are easily visible. Each traveler, including infants are allowed 1 plastic bag for liquids. 

Lighters and Matches – All flights to and from the USA have placed a ban on these items. However, during trips to other destinations, you are allowed to take small lighters through security check. 

Sharp Items – Scissors, knives or blades are not allowed in the aircraft cabin.
