This has led them to structure their baggage policy to fit the passenger’s needs be it for the distance of the destination traveled, infants carried along or just cost of the ticket.

Checked Baggage Allowance.

Norwegian Air checked baggage is determined by the ticket prices that have been purchased by the passengers. For classes that the passenger can travel on they have; Lowfare, Lowfare Plus, Flex, Premium and Premium Flex. For all flights including the international and long haul flights, passengers on the Lowfare Plus class will be allowed up to one piece of 20 kg checked baggage while those in the Flex, Premium, and Premium Flex class will be allowed up to 2 pieces of checked baggage weighing 20 kg. In contrast, passengers on the Lowfare class are not allowed any checked baggage.

Weight and Dimensions It is important for passengers to note that the maximum weight of the checked baggage should not exceed 32kg and the minimum weight should not be below 2kg. In case the passenger is carrying two bags the maximum weight acceptable is 64 kg. When it comes to dimensions, the bags should measure 250cm in length, 79cm in height and 112cm in width with a circumference that should not exceed 300cm.

However, passengers can carry excess baggage if the need arises but at a cost of 9GBP per kg of the extra baggage.

Infants and Children

The amount of checked baggage for infants depends on two things; the age of the child and the ticket bought. Children under the age of 2 years will be allowed checked baggage weighing only 5kg which can either be packed together with the parent’s baggage or separately together with a single car seat and stroller.

On the other hand, children over the age of 2 years but under the age of 11 years will have their checked baggage determined by the air fare type they are traveling on but similarly, they are allowed to bring one car seat and a single stroller.

Hand Baggage Norwegian air Passengers will be allowed one hand baggage and one other personal item which can either be a handbag or a laptop bag that should fit under the car seat. However, the weight allowed for the hand luggage varies with the ticket purchased. For instance, passengers on the Lowfare, Lowfare plus, and Premium will only be allowed 10kgs for the two items while their counterparts in the Flex and Premium Flex will be allowed 15kgs.

Of critical importance to note is that the dimensions of the hand luggage, regardless of the air ticket purchased, will be 50cm x 40 cm x 23 cm for the carry-on baggage and 25cm x 33 cm x 20 cm for the personal item.

Also, any passenger flying to Dubai should note that their hand luggage should not exceed 8kg. Infants below 2 years are not allowed any hand luggage while those between 2 years and 11 years are allowed hand luggage as per the ticket prices restrictions.

All in all, every passenger should know that if they are on a busy flight some of their hand luggage will have to be carried as cargo. In instances where this is the case, the passengers are advised to retrieve any important documents from the hand luggage.

Restricted items

All liquids carried by the passengers should be limited to 100 ml containers which should be in a one-liter plastic resealable bag. There is a certain category of fluids that can surpass these limits; these include baby food or milk, medication needed for use in the airplane and duty-free items. In the carry-on bags, no passenger will be allowed to carry any weapons, sharp items that can be used to cause harm and items listed as dangerous goods.

In comparison, checked baggage also has some restrictions applied to it, these include; valuable items like jewelry, fragile goods, perishable substances, any document that can be classified as important and e-cigarettes. In addition to this, any item that is classified as dangerous goods will not be allowed in the airplane.
