Delta Airline is a major American airline and it's the largest hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It is the oldest airline still operating in the United States. It is one of the 4 founding members of the airline alliance – SKYTEAM.
Baggage Allowance by region and cabin:
All passengers flying by First or Business Class are entitled to free checked-in luggage. In fact, passengers on each flight can carry a maximum of 2 checked-in baggages (each not weighing more than 32 kg) but passengers to Brazil can carry up to 3 checked-in bags.
Passengers in the Main Cabin or Economy Class can carry the first checked bag totally free for most of the routes except when traveling within United States and Canada. Passengers need to pay USD 25 for the first checked bag and an additional USD 35 to 40 for the 2nd checked bag. However, the first bag is totally free when traveling to South America, Europe, North Africa, Israel and all major countries in Asia, Southern Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Guam et al. However, when traveling to Europe, North Africa and Israel and second checked-in bag would entail an additional cost of USD 100.
Excess Baggage Fees by region:
• USA – Bag #3 USD 150, Bag # 4 -10 USD 200 each;
• Canada - Bag #3 USD 150, Bag # 4 -10 USD 200 each;
• Latin America - Bag #3 USD 125, Bag # 4 -10 USD 200 each;

Carry-on Policy
All passengers can carry:
- 1 purse, briefcase or camera bag or;
- 1 laptop computer or;
- 1 item of a similar size.
Items like umbrella, duty-free merchandise, strollers and drinks that are bought after security checkpoint are not counted as personal items. It is to be noted that carry on baggage should not exceed 114 cm in combined length, width and height and it must comfortably fit in the Carry-on Baggage check. There is no maximum weight for carry-on luggage except certain destinations like Shanghai (10 kg), Beijing (10 kg), South Korea (10 kg) and Singapore (7 kg).
Baggage Claim for lost or delayed baggage
One needs to complete an online form to claim for lost, delayed or damaged baggage. After submitting the baggage claim, one needs to upload the supporting documents for claim processing. The File Reference Numbers which are needed at the time of baggage claim can be obtained from the Baggage Service Center.
