Baggage Information With Pegasus Airlines

When traveling with luggage it is important to know the rules, specifications and allowances from the airlines. Like other airlines, Pegasus Airlines, has its baggage specifications that are set to ensure maximum comfort of its passengers as well as to meet EU international regulations.

There are various classifications of luggage and they include: carry on baggage, cabin baggage, checked baggage and steps to follow when staking a claim for lost luggage.

The cabin baggage is the luggage that a passenger can carry into the aircraft. The maximum weight allowed for the baggage is 8 kilograms or 17.6 pounds. The dimensions of the luggage should not exceed a height of 55 cm or 21.5 inches, a length of 40 cm or 16 inches and a width of 20 cm or 8 cm. A passenger can only be allowed to travel with one such baggage per trip. However, there are other items that a passenger can carry into the aircraft without being charged such as: one hand bag, one baby carry cot, a small camera or telescope, reading materials, a laptop, a collapsible wheelchair or a pair of crutches, an umbrella with no sharp ends and an overcoat, blanket or scarf. When carrying items into the aircraft it is important to watch over them as the airlines wont be liable for any item left or damaged by passengers.

The checked baggage on the other hand is the one registered on the passengers ticket for which a baggage label is given. In it one is allowed to carry valued documents, electronic equipment and clothes. The maximum weight for this kind of luggage is 32 kilograms and fragile items including those that can leak should not be placed in this baggage. Here the airlines bear all responsibilities for this baggage classification.

Pegasus Airlines offers baggage allowances for passengers. The passenger should make an extra baggage request beforehand, up to 2 hours before departure, to get lesser prices for the additional kilos. Such requests should only be done through the airlines official website, their call centre, mobile or certified travel agencies. To find out more about the baggage allowances one is required to just enter his/her Reservation number and their Surname. It is also important to note that additional baggage allowance are given depending on the passenger's ticket package type. Also those with connecting flights should hold on to their allowance receipts until their arrival.

Due to security reasons there are restrictions of the kind of items one can travel with. First, any sharp or cutting items should be put in the checked baggage and it is prohibited to carry them into the aircraft. If carrying any hazardous material that can cause grievous harm one must declare so and also indicate what the substance has. Any hazardous substance or chemical must be in line with national and international rules. Other items that are prohibited include explosives, all kinds of weapons such as firearms, cutting and sharp objects ranging from machetes to arrows, chemical or toxic substances as well as batons, baseball bats among other paraphernalia that can be used as weapons. As mentioned earlier the goods one carries into the aircraft is solely their responsibility.

However, for the checked baggage the airline assumes responsibility but it is always prudent to carry valuable documents with you. If any luggage is lost or damaged please report to the Lost Luggage Office on the same day preferably before leaving the airport.
