Since December 8, 2016 S7 Airlines passengers can carry skiing equipment for free in addition to the main baggage — a pair of alpine skis with ski poles or a snowboard with additional equipment (boots, helmets, snow goggles, special clothing) in a bag with a total weight not exceeding 23 kg in addition to the baggage for Economy fares and 32 kg for Business fares. A bag with a total weight exceeding 32 kg is to be paid as a heavy baggage. The sum of three dimensions of a piece must not exceed 203 cm.

S7 Airlines is a Serbian airline that has a broad coverage of the main routes extending throughout Europe. The diversity of the passengers it serves influences its baggage policy which is structured to cater for the passengers flying in all its classes which are; Economic Basic, Economic Flex, Business Basic, Business Flex.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Firstly, passengers flying on both the Economic Basic and the Economic Flex classes are allowed one piece of checked baggage of 10kg with dimensions of 55 x40 x20cm. Passengers on these two categories who choose to carry additional baggage above these limits on a paid basis should restrict their extra baggage to one piece of up to 23 kg with dimensions of 203cm.

All passengers on the Business Basic and Business Flex are allowed two pieces of checked baggage of up to 15kg per passenger with dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20 cm. However, passengers in these two classes who desire to carry extra baggage on a paid basis should restrict their additional baggage to one piece of 32kg on the Business Basic Class and two pieces of 32kg on the Business Flex Class with a maximum dimension of 203cm.

There is a special provision for the passengers who would love to travel with their skiing equipment in addition to their checked baggage. They can bring along an Alpine Skis pair with ski poles and a snowboard together with equipment like boots, helmets, snow goggles and any other unique clothing. However, the additional bag should not weigh more than 23kg for the Economy Class tickets and 32kg for the Business Class tickets. Any excess baggage attracts a fee that is set by the airline. 

Hand Luggage

When it comes to hand luggage, the Economy Class passengers are limited to a single piece of baggage weighing up to 10 kg while the Business Class passengers are allowed two pieces of hand luggage weighing up to 15kg with dimensions restricted to 55 x 40 x 20 cm.

In addition to their hand luggage, passengers are allowed to bring with them items that are essential for their use immediately after landing. These may include; A lady purse, briefcases, paper folder, umbrellas, flower bouquet, garments for keeping warm, reading material, electronic devices like cameras and laptops, baby food, crutches and wheelchairs for passengers who are disabled.

Adult passengers who are traveling with their children will be allowed to carry along items that are meant to aid them. These items are car seats and bassinets for children under the age of 2years which should be limited to dimensions of 55 x 40 x20 cm. Additionally, a baby carriage for children below 11 years will be allowed as additional hand luggage. But it is important to note that umbrella strollers can only be carried as checked baggage.

Baggage Claim

Baggage claim takes place at the airport in which the baggage is checked in or at the location of departure or of a stop-over based on the passenger's request. To claim their baggage passengers will be required to produce a baggage ticket and a detachable slip identifying them as the rightful owners of the luggage, should they fail to produce these documents, they will be required to provide sufficient proof of ownership. The passenger is obliged to seek the carriers consent to offset any amount that was paid in case of issuance of baggage at the point of departure or point of a stop-over. In case a passenger’s luggage fails to show up, they will be required to report that matter to an airport official and record a statement of non-arrival of baggage, and if the airline cannot trace the baggage after 21 days, compensation for the passenger is assured.

Restricted and Prohibited Items

Several restrictions apply to the carriage of the following items as checked luggage. These items are; mock-ups of any weapons, knives and scissors with a blade length that extend over 60mm, Liquids and alcoholic beverages containing not more than 24% alcohol by volume, aerosols for home use in containers of not more than 0.5kg in volume.

Several other items are allowed for carriage as hand luggage. These items include; Medical thermometers per passenger, a Mercury Tonometer which is still in its protective case, cigarette lighters, 3% hydrogen peroxide substances and fuel cells that are used to power electronic devices. In addition to this, the passengers are requested to carry liquids, gels, and aerosols in containers of not more than 100ml and all such containers should be in resealable plastic bags with a capacity of 1 liter.

Finally, the following items are listed as dangerous goods and will not be allowed on the aircraft either as checked or carry-on luggage. These items are; Explosives, compressed or liquefied gasses, flammable liquids and solids, peroxides and flammable substances, poisonous substances, firearms and any other objects that are capable of use as weapons.
