Wizzair is one the Europe's foremost low-cost airline with over 500 routes in some 27 bases within Europe. In case you are looking to fly with them and need credible information on its checked baggage or just hand baggage, then you should read along.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Wizzair allows its passengers to bring along checked baggage with dimensions of 149cm x 119 cm x 171 cm for width, height and length with the maximum weight for this baggage restricted at 32kg. However, this baggage will have to be paid for and you will be allowed to bring along only up to six pieces of such baggage. In case you are traveling with a small child then the airline will allow you to bring along their push chair stroller or infant seat absolutely free of charge.

Cabin Baggage Allowance

In normal circumstances, you will enjoy a cabin baggage allowance as long as your baggage is small with dimensions of 42 cm x 32 cm x 25 cm for width, height and length. For a cost of between 10 - 20 euros you can be able to upgrade your small cabin bag to a large cabin bag and bring it with you on board. However, the condition is that it needs to fit into the overhead compartment effortlessly without any assistance and the dimensions should be strictly 56cm x 45 cm x 25 cm.

In addition to this, the passengers who qualify for priority boarding will enjoy the privilege of bringing along one personal item with dimensions of 40 cm x 30 cm x 18 cm. The personal item that you bring along can either be a handbag, laptop bag or a camera. However, you will not be charged if you bring on board a coat for keeping you warm, a mobile phone or some reading material.

Restricted Items

There are some items that the airline does not allow its passengers to bring on board while some are limited by capacity. For instance, all liquids should be limited to 100 ml containers and packed in transparent resealable plastic paper bags with a capacity of just 1 liter. The dimension of these packaging bags should be only 20 cm x 20 cm.

In addition to this, any sharp objects that have the potential to be used as weapons cannot be packed in any of your luggage. You are also prohibited from carrying any items that are explosive in nature in any of your luggage. If you pack lithium batteries then you are required to separate them from your electronic devices or enlist measures that will prevent any short circuit incidents. Also, note that you cannot carry the lithium batteries in your checked baggage and you are limited to only two that have 2grams of lithium and at most 100wh.

Baggage Claims

For any incidents involving baggage that has been delayed, damaged or lost, you are requested to promptly report that to the counters available and ensure that a property irregularity report is filed. In case the incident was involving delayed luggage and a report is not made immediately then no liability will be accepted. But if it was reported immediately and it is not successfully tracked within 21 days then the airline will accept liability and compensate you accordingly.

If you notice that your luggage is damaged you should make the report within 7 days. That is if the damage is noticeable and you were traveling with the luggage. But if you were not traveling with the luggage then you will need to file a report of your damaged baggage within 21 days failure to which no liability will be accepted. For cabin luggage, you are required to report any irregularity immediately. Note that claims can be made either through your insurance company or through Wizzair claims division.
